CHATEAUROUX, France (July 29, 2024) – Air rifle and pistol events have concluded at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games with Sagen Maddalena earning fourth in Women’s 10m Air Rifle for the U.S.
Maddalena, of Groveland, California, finished fourth in Women’s 10m Air Rifle by beating Oceanne Muller, of France. Maddalena secured her spot in the final but shooting a 631.4 in the qualification round.
Mary Tucker, of Sarasota, Florida, competed in Women’s 10m Air Rifle and shot a 625.2 in the qualification round, with a 32nd place finish. Tucker, a Tokyo 2020 Olympic silver medalist, also paired up with teammate Rylan Kissell, of Denver, Colorado, in the Mixed Team Air Rifle event.
In Mixed Team Air Rifle, each competitor shoots 30 shots. Kissell and Tucker finished 13th overall by shooting a combined score of 626.
Maddalena and Ivan Roe, of Manhattan, Montana, paired up to shoot the event. The duo are both soldiers in the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit. The sergeants finished 18th overall by shooting a combined score of 624.9.
Roe and Kissell went on to compete in Men’s 10m Air Rifle. Roe and Kissell tied for 34th place with scores of 626.3.
USA also had athletes Alexis Lagan and Katelyn Abeln competing in Women’s 10m Air Pistol. Abeln, a Douglasville, Georgia, native, finished in 24th place with a score of 570-16x. Lagan, a Boulder City, Nevada, native, finished in 25th place with a score of 570-15x.
Roe, Kissell, and Abeln, all made their Olympic debut in Paris. Men’s trap competition has begun and smallbore rifle and pistol events will kick off soon. View the full schedule of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games here.
